Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Aquaman is all set to sail into theaters next month. The upcoming film will tell the origin story of DC underwater superhero Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. Actor Jason Momoa, who portrays the titular character in the film, recently revealed that he had a great time shooting the comic book movies’ epic fight scenes.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Momoa and his co-star Amber Heard who plays Aquaman’s love interest Mera in the film opened up about filming the intense action scenes in the film.
“Your body is constantly working,” Momoa said. “You’re doing judo, jiu-jitsu, fight choreography.”
“After four and a half months of training six days a week, you feel pretty superhuman,” Heard said.
Momoa added that he can completely relate to the film’s story as he also feels torn between two worlds. The actor’s mother is native Hawaiian.
“This story resonated with me instantly,” Momoa said. “He’s not accepted here, he’s not really accepted here, I definitely can identify with that.”
The actor said it was a great experience shooting the CGI underwater sequences without even going under the ocean.
“You get to experience all these amazing worlds,” Momoa added of the film. “We haven’t been under the ocean yet. This is our outer space. You get to fall in love with the idea of what it’s like to have these powers, to be a kid. That’s fun for the family, that’s fun for everyone.”
In related news, WB has rolled out another extended video for Aquaman that is over 5 minutes long. The video has a couple of new some shots and some new dialogues included. The official Aquaman movie Twitter handle has also posted a new 10-second long video clip. You can check it out below.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman will dive in theatres on December 21, 2018.
