‘Aquaman’: Jason Momoa Opens Up On Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill’s Possible Exit From DCEU

Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has always been quite outspoken talking about his journey in the DC Extended Universe so far as the underwater superhero. Jason made his debut as Aquaman in the 2016 superhero film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and then reunited with the other DC superheroes for 2017’s Justice League.

During a recent interview with Huffington Post, when Momoa was asked to comment on the rumored departures of his Justice League co-stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill from the DCEU, he responded in his usual forthright way.

If they’re both out, then listen: It’s just the place they’re at in their careers. I mean, how many has Henry done? He’s done three?” Momoa said. “Yeah, I mean, like, you want to move on. I think if I did… shit, I have done three.”

Momoa, who’s currently under contract for at least one more DCEU film after Aquaman, said he understands that his former co-stars might want to move on with their careers and not return in the DC superhero avatars again in future.

I mean, Henry wants to just expand on something,” he said. “Ben is an amazing director that is of age, and probably he’s done enough. I don’t know how to speak on behalf of them, but I had the time of my life [on ‘Justice League’].”

The actor went on talking about his Justice League co-stars and director Zack Snyder and even admitted that working on the 2017 DC superhero team-up film was indeed “phenomenal.”

Really, like, I’m a soul mate with him. He’s family. I’m very indebted to that man. I invited him to my wedding. I told him to look around on my property and the things I barely held onto, because there were moments in my career where you can’t put food on the table,” Momoa said about Zack. “Not being picky and choosy, but it’s hard to make it in this business. I looked at him, and I said, ‘You see these things? These would’ve never, ever, ever have happened if it wasn’t for you.’ So Zack has a huge part of my heart.”

Notably, the actor recently acknowledged the Snyder Cut movement directly for the first time. During an interview with MTV News, while promoting Aquaman, Momoa enthusiastically expressed his desire to see the Snyder Cut, complete with dropping an F-bomb.

Momoa is ready to swim in theatres in and as Aquaman when the film releases on December 21.
