Within just two weeks of release, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War has already shattered almost all previous box office collection records. While fans loved watching the slew of Marvel superheroes battling Mad Titan Thanos, they were a bit disappointed to not find Hawkeye and Ant-Man making an appearance in the new Avengers film.
Although the two superheroes remained completely absent from Avengers: Infinity War’s marketing and promotional campaigns, fans were still expecting them to show up in the film, which, unfortunately, didn’t happen.
During MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo were faced with the same question of Hawkeye and Ant-Man’s inclusion in the film. When the Russo brothers were asked if they had shot any scenes with the characters, they had an expectedly vague response to it.
“We have a very interesting story cooked up for both of those characters,” Joe Russo said. “And part of that story required they be under house arrest.”
Notably, the directors didn’t go into much detail as they didn’t want to ruin the potential plot of the next Avengers 4 movie.
“There’s a very specific story choice why,” Anthony Russo said.
Now, fans are left with no other option but to wait until next year to know what The Russo Brothers have in store for Hawkeye and Ant-Man.
One thing is clear that fans’ expectations from Avengers 4 have increased manifolds considering the hype that the Russo brothers have created around the two characters. It better be that the upcoming film does complete justice to the characters to ensure that Marvel fans don’t feel being fooled by the film studio.
Rumors are that the highly awaited Avengers 4 will revolve around the Quantum Realm, which is a completely new universe for Marvel to uncover. Avengers 4 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 3, 2019. More information about the upcoming film’s title, storyline and plot are expected to come pouring in soon.
