The Talocan are bringing the war to the surface dwellers in Black Panther 2 as hinted in the latest trailer. The 2-minute promotional video shows Namor (Tenoch Huerta) with flight abilities, confirming that the Sub-Mariner will have comic-accurate feathers on his foot. Moreover, the footage reveals the first look at Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) donning the Ironheart armor and the end shot shows a glimpse of a new sleek vibranium suit.
In the new Black Panther 2 trailer, The Queen of Wakanda is confronted by the King of Talocan, or better put the K’uk’ulkan as M’baku says, the feather serpent god, a befitting name for the ruler of the underwater realm. The video begins with Huerta’s narration, “only the most broken people can be great leaders” and pans to a shot of the Talocan world with Namor in the spotlight.
T’Challa’s death (Chadwick Boseman) looms heavily on the Kingdom of Wakanda and leaves the technological advance nation open to Namor’s assault and other forces. There’s a scene of Aneka (Michaela Coel) fighting some tactical mercenaries. We also get a teasing look at the Sub-Mariner breaking inside the throne room while Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and Riri watch in awe. Speaking of whom, Williams is shown building what appears to be the Mark I of Ironheart. She’s even seen using the suit through a HUD view but that could be the Mk II version, as revealed in an earlier merch. Readers can check it out below.
While fans are heavily leaning toward the theory that Shuri (Letitia Wright) has taken the reign as Black Panther, some are open to the possibility of Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) or Okoye (Danai Gurira) donning the vibranium suit. Even so, the new Dolby poster puts Shuri n the front and center, suggesting she will be the first female Black Panther. It’s still a mystery if the mantle carrier will take the heart-shaped herb to unlock their superhuman abilities. as did T’Challa, Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) and other Black Panthers from the past.
