DC fans embrace Nolan’s The Dark Knight preparing for Matt Reeves’ The Batman premiere

Matt Reeves’ noir-driven The Batman movie seems to have won over DC fans even before its official release, so much that some believe it could surpass Christopher Nolan’s The Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. However, many moviegoers have also come in support of Christian Bale’s iconic iteration. Nonetheless, praises are pouring out for both directors’ grounded adaptation of the caped crusader.

The upcoming Robert Pattinson starrer The Batman movie is on a league of its own set in an entirely new DC Universe sans any connection to Ben Affleck’s Batman from the DCEU. And so far, Warner Bros. decision seems to have worked in their favor with Reeves’s Bat-verse already expanding via a HBO Max spinoff featuring Colin Farell’s Penguin and talks of Batman sequel. The new flick’s early success has prompted many to compare the movie with Nolan’s standalone Batman and its sequel featuring Heath Ledger’s joker.

DC fans debate if Matt Reeves’ The Batman could be better than Nolan’s Dark Knight

Going by reactions, It’s astonishing to see Nolan’s standalone Batman movie still prevail after 17 years, a franchise that redefined comic book movie genre. Added, early rumors also state The Batman movie has a similar cinematic setting to the 2005’s DC film. So it shouldn’t be surprising to see the DC community bring up Nolan’s Bat trilogy while another new franchise looks to follow in its footsteps. Readers can check out reactions below.

The embargo lifts for The Batman movie on Monday at 12 PM EST so fans are still awaiting social media reactions and reviews from critics. Yet a leaked brief review from Deadline and MTV’s first reactions has assured moviegoers of its success. Still, it remains to be seen if Reeves’ new universe could surpass the Nolanverse. Furthermore, more comparison dissent is expected with Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman – a role last played by Anne Hathaway.

The Batman arrives in theatres on March 4, 2022. The movie will later be available on HBO Max after its 45-day theatre window.
