Supergirl: Amy Jackson Talks About Her Role as Saturn Girl and Her Addiction to Comic Books

Amy Jackson’s Saturn Girl, also known as Imra Ardeen, made her first appearance in the latest episode of Supergirl titled “Fort Rozz.” Kara teamed up with Saturn Girl for an important mission that will help her get closer to defeating Reign, the World Killer.

In a recent interview with Comicbook, Jackson admitted that she was not a regular reader of the comic books. However, her role as Saturn Girl, one of the founding members of Legion of Superheroes, led her to become a big fan and got her addicted.

“The Supergirl team, the writers, gave me a whole array of homework and some of my first proper comic books actually,” Jackson told the abovementioned publication. “I must admit I got addicted to it. I didn’t realize that it went so far back in so much depth and detail. It took me a little while and obviously I’m still learning things about her.”

The actress reportedly even watched a documentary called “Superheroes Decoded.” Learning more about her character opened up a whole new world for her.

“To be one of the founding leaders of that distinguished group, it was very daunting and it was a totally new world for me, but once I got into it I can safely say I am starting to get it. I am a self-proclaimed comic book fan, and it’s fans who have made this what it is and so that drives me to make it as authentic as possible. It’s like when I am working in India and I have to do my homework on roles there. I had to do justice to the character for sure,” Jackson explained.

Fans must note that Saturn Girl is the girl Mon-El, Kara’s ex-boyfriend, later married. Will her entry lead to a love triangle? Meanwhile, the two ladies will be working together to bring down Reign. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

According to Jackson, this is the first time Saturn Girl will get proper screen time and she is honored to play the role. Earlier, the character appeared in an animated form for a single episode of Smallville.

Supergirl Season 3 will return next week for episode 12 titled “For Good.” As revealed earlier, the episode will focus on Lena Luthor as she is held responsible for trying to kill Morgan Edge.
