Thanos, who is also referred as by far the strongest and dangerous Marvel Cinematic Universe villain ever, made his debut back in 2012’s The Avengers before stealing the limelight in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
While the Mad Titan’s character, played by Josh Brolin, was brought to life using CGI and digital effects in Infinity War, the character’s debut in 2012 was fully practical and was created with the help of makeup and prosthetics. Notably, it was Damion Poiter who played Thanos in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers.
Iron Head Studio, who was responsible for bringing Thanos’ to the big screen in 2011, has shared a new picture from the Avengers’ sets on Instagram. The picture offers a behind-the-scenes look at Poitier’s Thanos makeup done by Ironhead’s lead sculptor, Jose Fernandez. Fernandez had previously worked on films like Men in Black, Batman Forever, Hellboy, X-Men 2 and Fantastic Four. You can check out the picture below.
A new Avengers: Infinity War BTS picture has also popped up online which shows Robert Downey Jr. in a motion capture suit filming what appears to be a scene from the battle on Titan. The Titan battle saw Iron Man along with Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Mantis, Nebula, Drax, and Doctor Strange trying to take the Infinity Gauntlet off Thanos’ hands.
In related news, a picture of Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Iron Man’s love interest Pepper Pots, has leaked online that shows her suited up in her new superhero identity- the armored Rescue.
It is believed that after half of the universe’s population, including a lot of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, got turned to dust due to Thanos snap, the surviving Avengers will need to strike back hard to take revenge. So, it might be that Pepper will don her superhero identity to help the Avengers in their quest.
We will find out more when Avengers 4 arrives in theaters in May 2019.
