‘The Meg’: New Hi-Res Still Of The Terrifying Aquatic Apex Predator

Later this August, fans will be treated with another sci-fi action packed thrilling movie based on Apex predators. But this time, it won’t be mutated beings running rampant on land. But instead, a terrifying aquatic creature which was believed to have gone extinct returns in the upcoming The Meg.

Warner Bros. has released new hi-res stills from the film, teasing the terrifying giant shark. From the looks of it, it seems to be the pre-historic shark known as Megalodon. Fans can check out the photos below.

It may seem like the Megalodon might just be too much for the film’s protagonist team to take on. But with Jason Statham playing the lead, fans are looking forward to seeing The Transporter actor battle the gigantic apex predator.

In Empire’s recent issue, Statham shared his excitement in being part of The Meg movie. Moreover, he also seems to be confident about the movie’s ability to pull in the audience.

I mean, who doesn’t want to watch a movie about the biggest shark that’s ever existed? And I get to be in it? This is as good as it gets,” said Statham. The stills below were first shared by Empire magazine.

At present, it’s hard to predict if the movie will manage to entertain fans and appeal to the critics like the classic Jaws. But hand it to Warner Bros for finding the right lead actor with Statham similar to the studios’ recent movie Rampage which had Dwayne Johnson playing the lead.

The movie also managed to break the video game curse and made a good buck at the box office. Hopefully, the studio manages to tap the same success formula for The Meg as well.

Directed by Jon Turtletaub, The Meg stars Jason Statham, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson, Robert Taylor and Jessica McNamee. The movie hits theatres on August 10th.
