Riverdale Season 2: Musical Episode 18 Isn’t Hinting At Archie & Betty Romance, Confirms Lili Reinhart

Riverdale Season 2 resumes its run this week with a special musical episode 18 titled “A Night to Remember.” The upcoming episode features the much-anticipated romantic moment between Betty and Archie, commonly referred to as “Barchie” among fans. However, fan-favorite star Lili Reinhart warned fans that it doesn’t really hint at Betty and Archie romance. Unfortunately, it looks like the two are just merely playing their roles in Kevin and Jughead’s production “Carrie the Musical.”

Speaking to MTV in the behind-the-scenes video, Riverdale star Lili Reinhart, who plays the role of Betty, clarifies that the upcoming romantic stint with KJ Apa’s Archie in the musical will definitely bring them closer but does not indicate at any romantic involvement in the future of the series.

Cheryl plays the leading lady Carrie White, Betty and Archie portray the golden-couple of the school Sue Snell and Tommy Ross. While the Musical focuses on Carrie’s painful story as an outcast teenager, she will find support from the school’s brightest Sue and Tommy.

Fans know that Betty and Archie have been best friends since they were four years old. Over the years, Betty developed feelings for Archie, but when she was about to confess, she noticed him being distracted by a new girl Veronica Lodge. Betty moved on and found love with Jughead and left “Barchie” fans disheartened. Fans’ were hopeful for romance when Betty and Archie shared a small kiss in the episode titled “Silent Night, Deadly Night.”

They never got close again and reunited with their respective beaus. This week, “A Night to Remember” will see Archie and Betty come close again but only for the musical.

I mean, Betty and Archie playing Tommy and Sue, I feel like it doesn’t stir the pot as much as you think it would necessarily,” Reinhard explains. “Which is nice. I think it’s very innocent. It doesn’t hint at any budding romance left between them. It’s more so just those are the roles that they play and they kind of are awkwardly walking through them.”

Besides Betty and Archie coming close, fans will be treated to another mystery that Jughead will look forward to solving during the musical. As per the synopsis, a mysterious letter arrives putting Kevin in a difficult position. Also, Cheryl will have another showdown with her mother. Joining the kids for the musical at Riverdale High is Alice Cooper, who will make things tenser between Veronica and Betty.

Riverdale Season 2 episode 17 “A Night to Remember” airs April 18 on The CW. Be sure to keep visiting Pursue News for more updates and information.
