‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Still Photographer Jasin Boland Shows How Korg Was Created

Thor: Ragnarok still photographer Jasin Boland recently shared a look of the film’s rock character Kronan Korg played by  director Taika Watiti.

Thor: Ragnarok was one of the most delightful, fun-filled, and action packed movie to have come out from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Inspite of a few tonal issues, Thor 3 was an enjoyable film.

Thor, Hulk, and Loki were the central focus of the film. However, fans could not help but love the huge, and yet soft spoken rock bodied character Kronan Korg played by Taika Watiti. Korg is introduced in the film early on, and he ends up as one of the best characters in the film.

In the BTS image posted on Jasin Boland’s twitter account, Watiti is seen in a motion capture suit with a cutout of Korg’s head on his hat, minus any CGI magic. The look in the picture seems different from the one in the film. The image might have been taken from early concept art as Korg’s deep-set pale eyes give him a monstrous look. The team must have later decided to give Korg a softer look to match his friendly demeanor. While the audience was of the impression that Watiti only lent voice to the character, in reality the director had to wear some motion capture technology enact Korg.

Along with the image, Boland tweeted, “Ever wonder how #korg was born?” Watiti had a few things to say as well. He commented, “Perfect body meets perfect face meets what the f*** are you wearing. Try directing when you look like this. Btw this @DonCheadle’s mocap suit. #warmachine #korgmachine.” This post indicates that Don Cheadle wore the mocap suit during Captain America: Civil War.

Watch Korgmachine in action now at the theaters. Did you like Taika Waititi’s performance as Korg in Thor: Ragnarok? Would you like to see Korg again? Tell us in the comment box below.
