The CW series Riverdale continues to shock fans with unexpected twists and turns. The teen television drama based on Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Archie Comics is popular for its surprise element. However, its fans are one step ahead. Every now and then they have surprised the cast with their theories.
Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan, who plays the role of Toni Topaz, chatted with Teen Vogue to address some fan theories and what they thought could happen in Season 3.
A fan suggests that Sweet Pea could be Penny Peabody’s mother considering the similarity to their name. The actress invalidates the theory by making it clear that it’s pure fetching.
Another theory suggests a similarity between Riverdale and Black Mirror’s episode “San Junipero.” A fan suggests Cheryl being Yorkie and Toni being Kelly in the alternate universe. Morgan agrees to the similarities between the characters but she is not too pleased with the suggestion of a crossover and turn the possibility down once again.
Another theory that manages to impress the actress is that Riverdale Season 3 might see Toni move in with Cheryl in Nana Rose’s house. The actress did not deny the possibility but revealed that the girls may not be “ready for that kind of commitment.” The same theory suggests that Cheryl and Toni together being Serpents will become an interesting storyline. Morgan could not agree less.
The first season of Riverdale was about Jason’s murder. It primarily revolved around solving the mystery and revealing the murderer of the Blossom twin. The second season featured more murders by Black Hood. Another fan theory suggests Cheryl’s murder that could kickstart Season 3 mystery.
Morgan liked the theory suggesting it to be a part of “Blossom twin curse” storyline. However, she refused to confirm or deny the theory but found it makes a lot of sense.
Morgan revealed that none of them know what’s going to happen in Riverdale Season 3. However, she hopes Serpents stick together especially after F.P.’s retirement. She revealed that they wouldn’t find out what happens next until three days before the filming of the episode. This is done in order to keep them from spoiling future storylines.
“Season three will have a high genre element like that. That’s what the show is. It’s not just about the Archie characters. It’s the Archie characters put into a specific genre, and we see how they relate and survive and adapt,” showrunner Aguirre-Sacasa said about Riverdale Season 3 in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
